About Spiritual Direction

Brenda Coffin, SD, will lead an ongoing Spiritual Direction group of 12-15 participants in daytime and evening groups meeting monthly for 8 months. All meetings will be held in the HUMC Prayer Room. We will be following the Liturgical year and using the book, Moment by Moment: a retreat in everyday life. Brenda received a one year Spiritual Direction Ignatian training of this book and will lead two groups from Fall through Spring. Learn how to deepen your walk with Jesus, and experience his ways, understand the benefit of silence and solitude, reflection and noticing Christ and how this is applied to our relationships with others through scripture and Ignatian insights.

Brenda Coffin is a formally trained and Certified Spiritual Director who has received two-years of formal Spiritual Direction training at the Kairos School of Spiritual Direction & Spiritual Formation in Wernersville, PA. While Brenda is also a licensed therapist, and professional life coach, she only draws upon her foundational background to further understand and “be with” people as they seek spiritual awareness and meaning. Guided by the Holy Spirit—or third chair–Brenda helps participants view their life’s challenges, complexities and experiences through a faith lens. She also has received leadership training in contemplative practices through Oasis Ministries to equip church communities, groups and individuals in their spiritual journeys. She likes to teach others how to maintain spiritual practices that will support them in their daily living and personal reflection time.
